What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is a prescription injectable treatment used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, particularly the “11s” between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It’s often referred to as "Newtox" because it’s similar to Botox® in its formulation and effect, but marketed primarily for cosmetic purposes.

Jeuveau is made from botulinum toxin type A, a neurotoxin that works by blocking signals from your nerves to your muscles.

How does Jeuveau work?

Jeuveau works by temporarily paralyzing your facial muscles responsible for causing dynamic wrinkles — those that form due to repeated facial expressions like frowning or squinting. Once your practitioner injects the solution into the target muscle, it blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction. With the muscle temporarily immobilized, the skin overlying your muscle becomes smoother, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

The procedure is quick, usually lasting only 10-20 minutes, involving multiple small injections in the treatment area. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch or mild discomfort. Because Jeuveau only affects the injected muscles, you can still make natural facial expressions in untreated areas.

Jeuveau is most commonly used to treat glabellar lines or the vertical "11" lines between the eyebrows.
